Northumberland Public Library received two awards at the Virginia Public Library Directors conference in Harrisonburg on March 20th.
Free Clinic expands, getting busier, but isn’t requesting increase in local funding

Although the Northern Neck–Middlesex Free Health Clinic (NNMFHC) reported a very busy and productive prior year that included hiring, expanding services, and strengthening partnerships, the organization didn’t ask for any increase in funding from Lancaster in the FY27 budget.

Every year, a statewide student art contest is held. Students from the schools in a division submit their work, and the best of the bunch is submitted for judging.

Kinsale has been hit with another commercial building fire, this time at the old Potomac Supply pellet mill followed by several additional fires the same day.
Back-to-School Vaccination Dates Announced
Three Rivers Health District has again partnered with local school systems to provide back-to-school vaccinations in preparation for the 2026-2027 school year. In addition to vaccination opportunities at the local health department, public health nurses will be coming on-site in the Spring to administer vaccinations required for school admission for rising 7th & 12th graders.

Westmoreland Supervisors address questions linked to Taylor’s resignation

It has been almost a month since Jim Taylor resigned from his position at Westmoreland County Administrator. The resignation came in the wake of the discovery that many loans from Rural Development were neglected and the County was dangerously close to defaulting on them. Although the loans were taken care of, the damage was done and a great deal of penalties had accrued.
Downtown Colonial Beach optimistic about Main Street America status
The organization responsible for running downtown Colonial Beach has been working with Main Street America for some time now in its efforts to keep the revitalizing efforts going.
