Thousands Gather for Stratford Hall’s Oyster & Wine Festival
This past weekend, a horde of people descended upon Stratford Hall’s Oyster & Wine Festival to sample an assortment of wine and vast amounts of oysters, one of the foods most often associated with the Northern Neck.

Last Saturday, people gathered at Town Hill in Colonial Beach to take part in the 13th annual Alexander Graham Bell Croquet Tournament.
Stratford Hall adds new offerings to Wine & Oyster Festival
It will not be long at all before the Stratford Hall Wine & Oyster Festival is upon us. Slated to run on both the 19th and 20th of September, guests are invited to sample the wares of wineries and oysters from all over the area and beyond while they enjoy live music, vendors, car shows, food trucks, and much more.
Community benefits showcased at Beach Music Festival
Last weekend, Town Hill Park in Colonial Beach hosted the Colonial Beach Community Foundation’s Northern Neck Beach Music Festival once again. Taking place on Saturday and Sunday, people gathered to listen to a pleth‑ora of bands, dance the day away, and enjoy food trucks and local craft beer and wine, as well as take part in a 50/50 raffle.
Montross Fall Festival Committee Still Seeking Volunteers
The Montross Fall Festival is mere weeks away. While the theme—celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday— and the grand marshals—business leaders and others who helped grow the Town— have been locked in, there’s still quite a bit of work to be done.
Time for Beach Music Fest nears
With September here, the Northern Neck Beach Music Festival in Colonial Beach is just shy of a week away. Slated to occur on the 12th and 13th of the month, it is a celebration that will see the Town Hill park packed to the gills with vendors and tents as people gather to enjoy beach music, food, raffles, and a chance to dance on the sand.
Museum Makes Exhibit Opening a Major Event
Last Saturday brought plenty of excitement to Old Courthouse Square in Montross as people gathered not only to enjoy live music but also to explore a special exhibit that had come to town. Part of the VA 250 celebrations, “Give Me Liberty: Virginia & the Forging of a Nation” was created by the Virginia Museum of History and Culture.
Give Me Liberty Exhibition Coming to Westmoreland Museum
This weekend, a traveling exhibition exploring Virginia’s role in the founding of our nation and the American Revolution will be setting up at the Westmoreland County Museum as another part of the celebration of 250 years of American history.

Westmoreland’s National Night Out draws massive crowd
Last Tuesday, National Night Out was celebrated across the nation. Here in Westmoreland County, the Sheriff’s Office once again broke out the grill and the hot dogs and hosted a massive cookout at Stan’s Skateland, drawing in a huge crowd despite the looming threat of scattered showers.
