Brann calls on Del. Kent & Local Governments to fight for dispatchers
Northumberland Board Chairman James Brann isn’t letting up on his call for dispatchers to be recognized as first responders. Most recently, he publicly made the request for the region’s state representative, Delegate Hillary Pugh Kent, to focus on the issue during the General Assembly in 2027.

COLONIAL BEACH IN EARLY PLANNING PHASE FOR NORTH SHORE REPAIRS
Residents of Colonial Beach have had something of a front-row seat to shoreline decay over its long life as a community. Nowhere is this better displayed than at the shore on the northern side of Colonial Avenue, where some areas are now below the waterline of the Potomac. The Town has been well aware of the problem but has been missing the necessary resources to make fixing the issue possible. That appears set to change.

Northumberland approves Real Estate Tax increase for FY 27
With a unanimous vote, Northumberland Supervisors approved an FY 27 budget that increased nearly $2.7 million year over year to $48,796,856 budget and a 4-cent real state tax increase.

Since achieving accredited status with the Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission (VLEPSC) in May of 2006, the Sheriff’s Office has been working to maintain that status. At last week’s County Board of Supervisors meeting, it was announced, to the applause of many present, that the WCSO had once again continued its yearly streak of accredited status.

Westmoreland moves on proposed housing rehab project
At last week’s Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors meeting, Jerry Davis, Executive Director of the Northern Neck Planning District Commission, paid a visit, bringing along plans for securing a $1.5 million Community Development Block Grant to restore a number of homes.
