Movement on Rt. 360 & Newland Road project scheduled to start this week
A long‑awaited construction project to enhance safety at the intersection of Rt. 360 (Richmond Rd.) and Newland Road is slated to begin in early April.
Rappahannock Tribe launches campaign to protect namesake river
Following the Rappahannock Tribe’s legal challenge to a state approved water withdrawal permit, the Tribe has launched a fundraising and coalition building campaign seeking public support for what tribal leaders expect to be a long term fight to protect the Rappahannock River.
Spring planting scheduled for Farnham’s new living shoreline
Photo: Environmental Quality Services The living shoreline restoration project on Simonson Road in Farnham, near the public Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources boat landing and parking area, is the only one of its kind in the Northern Neck in VDOT’s naturebased solutions initiative, according to Kelly Hannon, communications manager for VDOT’s Fredericksburg District.

Westmoreland Schools receive donation from Chesapeake Chorale
Last week, Westmoreland County Public Schools was expecting a visitor who, unfortunately, had other places to be. Although scheduling conflicts kept Dr. Cheryl Davis from attending the School Board meeting, she still found time to speak with Superintendent Kathy Rice, introduce her to the Chesapeake Chorale, and provide donations to the schools.
King George considering wide range of fee hikes
Residents and developers in King George County could soon see a wide-ranging set of fee increases. This month, county staff presented a proposed overhaul of the county’s fee schedule to the Board of Supervisors, which approved advancing the proposals to a public hearing.
