Plans unveiled for CBVFD storage building
Colonial Beach Volunteer Fire Department put forward a plan to arrange for the construction of a building on Colonial Avenue behind Lenny’s to store equipment such as hazmat gear, a second fire engine, and a boat. The building would also serve as a community facility for meetings and special events, such as weddings.


Federal judge upholds ruling that certain ex-felons should not automatically lose voting rights
Virginia had been in violation of a Reconstructionera law barring states from constitutionally disenfranchising people.

Colonial Beach students explore STEM careers at UMW Dahlgren
On March 5, over 50 seventhgrade students and their teachers from Colonial Beach Public Schools participated in an immersive day of STEM learning at the University of Mary Washington (UMW) Dahlgren Campus.
General Assembly agrees on recognizing Wiccocomico Pinn Lineage of Northumberland
The Virginia General Assembly approved SJ 25, a resolution sponsored by Senator Richard Stuart that formally recognizes the historic Wiccocomico Pinn lineage of Northumberland County.

Stratford Hall President gives update on Virginia Resolved
As the year continues and tourism season looms large, places across the Northern Neck are working to tie their events to the nation’s 250th birthday. Unsurprisingly, Stratford Hall is one of them, particularly when it comes to their Virginia Resolved event, which is slated to take place on the 6th and 7th of June.
