Chesapeake Academy announces Third Marking Period Academic Awards

Head of School Catherine Emery and Assistant Head Kenzie Manetz joined faculty advisors to recognize academic excellence and those habits of mind and study that contribute best to academic growth by announcing Most Improved Student and Teachers’ Award honors from Chesapeake Academy’s Middle School.

Advisors of the Most Improved Student and the Teachers’ Awards prepared short remarks outlining the behaviors and characteristics that led teachers to select each student who earned the recognition for the third marking period.

The Most Improved Student award goes to the student who exhibits significant growth in his or her work study habits and overall academic performance. The Most Improved Student Award for the seventh grade was earned by Easton Minor, and Keegan Casey earned it in the eighth grade class.

The Teachers’ Award goes to the student who has fully engaged in academic pursuits during the marking period, contributing positively to the academic climate of the class and continually challenging himself or herself to be the best student he or she can be. In the seventh grade, the Teacher’s Award was earned by Orla Watts.

Based on core academic subjects, a student will receive Head of School’s List honors each term in which he or she earned a 10.0 on a twelve point scale with no grade below a B-. In addition, students must meet expectations for conduct and work habits as indicated by earning top scores in each of the nine behavioral standards reported. In the fifth grade, Head of School List honors were awarded to Alec Sterrett, Rio Elam, August Goodrich, Neil Webre, Noah Campbell, Violet Edwards, Tillie Rowe, Berkeley Grass, and June Nichols. In the sixth grade, Violet Lacy, Daniella McLaughlin, Kenzie Rudock, and Shannon Wilson earned Head of School List honors. Seventh grade students Orla Watts, Benton Miller, Annabel Clair, Easton Minor, and Addy Parsley join eighth graders Callum Watts, Veronica Edmonds, Fin Burke, Lousia Goodrich, Sophia Kunkle, Nolan Pittman, and Kelsey Liner earning highest academic honors.

All students earning academic awards have met the character expectations of the Chesapeake Academy school community.
