Northumberland approves Real Estate Tax increase for FY 27
With a unanimous vote, Northumberland Supervisors approved an FY 27 budget that increased nearly $2.7 million year over year to $48,796,856 budget and a 4-cent real state tax increase.

Northumberland Board of Supervisors has approved an offi‑cial call for Gardy’s Mill Pond to be restored to its original state— one of four options presented at a recent public information meet‑ing hosted by the Department of Wildlife Resources.

On top of the reassessment that boosted property values by more than 58%, Northumberland County has a real estate tax increase on the table that could be as high as 21%. Residents continue not only to object to the increase but to question what they’re getting in return for their money.
Gardy’s Mill Pond meeting leads to heated reactions
On May 28, the Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) held a public comment meeting at the Callao Fire Department to review possible solutions for Gardy’s Mill Pond and its dam. The 75-acre pond is located on the Northumberland-Westmoreland county line, with the boat ramp area located on the Westmoreland side. It is the only public pond in Northumberland County.
