Warren Preston Shifflett, 80, of Colonial Beach, Virginia passed away peacefully at his home on March 15, 2026. He was born May 26, 1945, in Charlottesville, VA. to the late Welford Taft and Mary Odell Sandridge Shifflett.
Warren graduated from Lane High School and then received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Virginia.
He is a proud veteran and served in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. Warren retired from Southern States Cooperative, the Richmond Headquarters, after 30 years, where he served as the Director for the Motor Transportation Department. He served as governor for 3 terms and administrator for 2 terms for the Colonial Beach Moose Lodge. He served as club manager for 6 years for both the Colonial Beach Eagles and the American Legion.
Warren loved his family, friends, and the small town of Colonial Beach. He enjoyed boating and riding his Tiger Shark jet ski. Warren was affectionately known for being kind, funny and sharp witted. He loved playing the lead guitar and the golden oldies music with his band the “Detours” from Charlottesville for over 45 years.
He loved taking his grandchildren for rides on his golf cart.
Warren was preceded in death by his sister Ellen Turner, his son Todd Shifflett and his 25-year-old cat, Patches. Warren is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Kathleen; his stepsons, Aaron Clift (Ashley) and Wyatt Clift (Laureana); grandchildren Wesley, Wayland, Lily, and Willow; his sister, Lottie Blincoe and numerous nieces and nephews.
