Dawson

Laura Mae Fallin Dawson, 89, of Callao, peacefully entered into her Heavenly rest on April 3, 2026, with her beloved family by her side. Laura was born to the late Vernon Gallagher and the late Daisy Darcus Headley Gallagher in Northumberland County. She was the widow of Leslie Fallin, Sr., who preceded her in death after 39 Years of marriage; and the widow of Elwood Ray Dawson, who preceded her in death after 13 years of marriage. Laura Mae was a retired postal worker, and a member of Gibeon Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Laura Mae was a loving mother and grandmother above all else, but she enjoyed her work at the post office and really enjoyed her own business, Laura’s Antiques. She had an excellent eye for sourcing the best pieces and loved to see beautiful old furniture have a new life. Her home and her yard were immaculate – Laura could often be found outside tending to her grass and flowers. She loved to crochet, loved music (especially Elvis) and was known for her impeccable hair and makeup. She will be well and truly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are Laura Mae’s devoted children: Wanda Trower (Bob), Joyce Amos (Keith), Lisa Self (Tommy), Burnell Fallin, Jr., and Edwin Fallin (Valerie); twelve loving grandchildren: Kristin, Mallory, Derek, Michele, Alexis, Travis, Matthew, Madison, Shawn, Brandon, Amanda and Lauren; seven sweet great-grandchildren: Stella, Cameron, Turner, Emma, Hadley, Allison, and Paisley; and her siblings Carolyn Neale and Lyell Gallagher.

Greeting her with open arms in Heaven were her parents, Vernon and Daisy and her sisters, Virginia Wilkins Jett and Mary Jane Withers.

The family would like to express love and warmest thanks to her caregivers Diane Fones, Tiona Tineo and Barbara Smith, and also to express appreciation for the care that Laura Mae received from the staff at Bay Aging, NNK Senior Care Assisted Living and Riverside Hospice. Your kindness was so comforting to Laura Mae.

A Celebration of Life for Laura will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Gibeon Baptist Church, with the Reverends Danny Maupin and G.C. Harbuck officiating. The family will receive friends at the church in the hour preceding the service. Following Laura Mae’s service will be a light reception in the Gibeon fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you honor Laura Mae by making a donation in her loving memory to the Richmond County Fire Department, P.O. Box 626, Warsaw, VA 22572.
