Swann

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Allen Ray Swann. Allen Ray, 78, was a lifelong resident of Callao, born in 1947 to the late Charles Leslie Swann and the late Virginia Boyle Swann. He was the loving husband of Linda Tucker Swann, whom he married in 1968. Allen Ray was a faithful member of Henderson United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Callao Moose Lodge.

He was a truck driver for Beasley Concrete for 45 years from 1968 until his retirement in 2013. Allen Ray had an incredible work ethic and truly enjoyed driving a truck.

Because he worked so hard, Allen Ray treasured his time off with his family. In his younger years, he loved being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He also found time to serve as Junior Governor and Sergeant at Arms at the Moose Lodge. Allen Ray was handy, dependable, grounded, and practical, and he could fix just about anything.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife and best friend, Linda; his loving children, Jeffrey Allen Swann (Becky), Kevin Mitchell Swann (Rachel), and Jennifer Rae Swann; the grandchildren who lit up his life: Chantz Allen Swann (Tori), Hannah Lorraine Swann, Mason Tucker Swann, and Kylie Renee Davis; his sister-inlaw, Alice Swann; and his brother-in-law, Gary Tucker (Val).

Allen Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Virginia Swann; his siblings, Nancy Swann Goddard and L.C. Swann; and his in-laws, Marvin Arthur and Virginia Mitchell Tucker.

A funeral service for Allen Ray will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Welch Funeral Home Marks Chapel. The Reverend Evelyn Penn will officiate. The Swann family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Allen Ray will be laid to rest at Northern Neck Memorial Gardens in Callao immediately following his service. A reception will be held immediately following the burial in the Fellowship Hall of Henderson United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Allen Ray by making a contribution in his loving memory to either the Callao Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 82, Callao, VA 22435, or Henderson United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 22, Callao, VA 22435.
