Grove

Edward Harrison Grove III, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home on March 9, 2026. A true Southern Gentleman, Edward was a man of quiet strength, integrity, and steadfast devotion. He lived a life defined by the deep roots he planted and the family he so dearly loved.

Born in Winchester, Virginia, on May 8, 1944, Edward was the beloved son of the late Edward Harrison Grove and Janet Rockwell Grove. A proud double alumnus of the University of Richmond, he earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration while participating in the Army ROTC program, before continuing on at his alma mater to earn his Juris Doctor. Following law school, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Driven by a deep love for his country and a desire to serve during the Vietnam War, he performed his duties with distinction for three years, including a one-year tour in Vietnam as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer. He attained the rank of Captain before his honorable discharge.

Upon returning home, Edward relocated to Northern Virginia to begin what would become a long and respected legal career. Over the next 40 years, he rose to become the managing partner of the very firm where he started his journey—a practice that would proudly bear his name through to his retirement and beyond.

In his later years, Edward found his greatest peace and contentment at his home in King Copsico, Virginia. It was truly his paradise—a place where he could enjoy the simple comforts of life and the beauty of his surroundings.

Edward is survived by his devoted wife, Callie, with whom he shared his life, his home, and his heart. He was a proud and loving father to his children: eldest son Charles Grove and his wife Fay; son Edward Harrison Grove IV and his wife Elisa; daughter Sarah Grove; daughter Schuyler Saylor; daughter Cameron Gordon and her husband Kaleb; and son Kaleb Huffman.

Known affectionately as “Granddaddy,” Edward’s legacy lives on through his many cherished grandchildren: Nina, LJ, Atlas, Jackson, Madelyn, Brandon, Holly, and Rowyn. Each of them brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by his dear sister, Vickie Grove, and her husband, David Fair. “Uncle Ed” will be fondly remembered by his nephew, Tyler Fair, and his niece, Brittany Fair, along with her husband Dustin Grossheim. He was a proud great-uncle to twins Owen and Luke, and their younger brother, Winston.

Edward leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and a large, loving family that will hold his memory dear forever.
