As of Monday, Virginia State Police continued to investigate a multi- vehicle incident that shut down the Norris Bridge on Friday, June 5.
The crash occurred shortly after 9 a.m. when a pickup truck transporting a swimming pool attempted to cross the bridge. According to authorities several vehicles were struck during the incident, and Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office reported the pool became lodged on the bridge’s guardrail.
The incident prompted a response from LCSO, VSP, VDOT, and numerous emergency services crews.
Several vehicles sustained damage, but no injuries were reported, according to VSP. Traffic was significantly impacted while crews worked to clear the scene and reopen the bridge.
On Monday authorities had not publicly identified the driver, and no charges had been announced.
