Letters to the Editor
Dear Editor, Rep. Wittman’s latest email ignores the true reasons behind rising costs, focusing instead on misleading narratives.
The primary driver of gas and oil price increases is the expense of the Iran war. Billions are spent daily, and tax cuts won’t offset these costs. Instead, funding will come from reductions in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP—the program that feeds children. This is a ploy to deceive us. And YOU, Mr. Wittman, deceive your constituents when you fail to tell the whole truth about these “tax cuts.”. Even if we win in Iran, we lose.
Mr. Wittman touts the “One Big Horrible Bill” for eliminating taxes on tips and overtime but omits that these tax cuts will expire around election time, misleading voters into blaming Democrats when taxes return. This tactic deceives constituents by withholding the full truth about these “tax cuts.”
Mr. Wittman, do you support Donald Trump’s proposed arch in D.C., which would block views of Arlington Cemetery and dwarf the Lincoln Memorial, funded with $15 million in taxpayer money? When will you advocate for ordinary citizens instead of enabling billion-dollar handouts to Trump’s associates? How much damage are you willing to tolerate before you stand up for truth? -Therese Wolf, Colonial Beach
