Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor, As our great country marks the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, we should remember what drove so many Virginians to take a stand: representation that was fair, local, and accountable.

Today, many rural communities risk losing that connection. The recent gerrymandering referendum has proposed larger, more sprawling districts where rural voices will be diluted and local concerns overshadowed. When representation becomes less accessible, so does the ability for citizens to be heard.

This isn’t about party affiliation. It is about preserving the principle that the government should remain close to the people it serves.

If we truly want to honor the legacy of the great Virginians who stood up against taxation without representation, we must ensure rural Virginians are not left without a meaningful voice today.
