MU XI NU CHAPTER OF OMEGA PSI PHI HOSTS INAUGURAL YOUTH TALENT HUNT IN TAPPAHANNOCK

The Mu Xi Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. successfully hosted its first annual Reverend Brother Milton W. Robinson Talent Hunt Program on Sunday, March 8, at Essex High School, drawing students, families, and community members from across the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
The event featured a wide range of performances by local high school students, including vocal music, instrumental selections, dance, and spoken word. Participants demonstrated creativity, confidence, and artistic excellence throughout the competition, showcasing the depth of youth talent within the region.
The Talent Hunt Program is a nationally mandated initiative of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity designed to identify, nurture, and support young artists by providing opportunities for performance, recognition, and scholarship assistance. The Mu Xi Nu Chapter’s inaugural program advanced this mission while honoring the legacy of Reverend Brother Milton W. Robinson, for whom the event was named.
“This program is about more than competition—it is about uplifting our youth, building confidence, and investing in the future of our communities,” said Brother Lyndon Roane, Basileus of the Mu Xi Nu Chapter. He praised the students for their dedication and the courage displayed in sharing their talents before a live audience.
The program received strong support from parents, educators, and community leaders, underscoring the importance of youth-centered initiatives that promote artistic expression and personal development.
This year’s First Place winner was Talia Graham (Rappahannock High School) and 2nd Place went to Kaiden Gray (Essex High School).
Chapter members also acknowledged the contributions of volunteers, judges, and sponsors who helped ensure the event’s success.
Reverend Brother Milton Robinson was born in Warsaw, VA. After graduating from Virginia State University, he returned to the Northern Neck to serve the community as Senior Pastor of First Union Baptist Church Rexburg. Special recognition was extended to the family of Reverend Brother Milton W. Robinson for their support and for allowing the chapter to honor his legacy through the Talent Hunt initiative.
Following the success of its inaugural event, the Mu Xi Nu Chapter announced plans to expand the Talent Hunt Program in future years, with the goal of reaching more students and increasing its impact throughout the region.
The Mu Xi Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. continues to advance its mission of service, leadership, and community uplift under the fraternity’s guiding principle: Service You Can See. Commitment You Can Measure.
