Chesapeake Bank invests in Northumberland’s future

The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck has announced that Chesapeake Bank generously sponsored the Life & Workforce Readiness Room at the under construction Northumberland Clubhouse. The space is designed to prepare young people for success in school, work, and life.

This partnership reflects a shared belief in the power of opportunity. Chesapeake Bank has long championed financial education, career readiness, and community development across the Northern Neck. The Boys & Girls Club’s mission, to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens, aligns with the Bank’s commitment to strengthening local families and supporting the region’s economic future.

The Life & Workforce Readiness Room will serve as a hub for:

• Career exploration and job skills training

• Financial literacy and budgeting workshops

• Resume building, interview practice, and mentorship

• Leadership development and goal setting programs By investing in this space, Chesapeake Bank is helping ensure that Northumberland’s youth have the tools, confidence, and guidance they need to thrive in the modern workforce.

“Construction at the Northumberland site is well underway, with Phase One of the renovated facility opening this April,” says Shawn Lamb, Campaign Chair of the Building Great Futures Capital Campaign of the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck. “This first phase offers a bright, modern, and fully renovated clubhouse to youth and teens and brings high quality after school and summer programming to families who have waited patiently.”

Groundbreaking on the new Youth & Teen Center, a major expansion that will house the Chesapeake Bank Life & Workforce Readiness Room, will occur later this year. The purpose built addition will include dedicated teen spaces, music and art rooms, and flexible learning areas designed to support academic success, career development, and healthy social connection. The new center, which will be a comprehensive, multi age campus serving young people across Northumberland County, is expected to be completed in 2027.
