In August, the Westmoreland Board of Supervisors quietly voted during their regular meeting in favor of adding Rt. 632, New Monrovia Road, to VDOT’s Rural Rustic Roads program.

Westmoreland passes personal property tax relief rates
Westmoreland County Board of Supervisors approved a 20% tax relief rate on personal property for the 2026 tax year.

Westmoreland’s National Night Out draws massive crowd
Last Tuesday, National Night Out was celebrated across the nation. Here in Westmoreland County, the Sheriff’s Office once again broke out the grill and the hot dogs and hosted a massive cookout at Stan’s Skateland, drawing in a huge crowd despite the looming threat of scattered showers.
WASTEWATER SPILL FOUND NEAR CABIN POINT CREEK
The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) estimates that up to 14,000 gallons of untreated wastewater may have spilled on Aug. 3 from a leaking sewer line near Cabin Point Creek in Westmoreland.
First Baptist Church Steps Up the Helping Hand
This summer First Baptist Church in Colonial Beach extended a help‑ing hand to those in need. Reverend Dr. David Cunningham and others have been getting together to give away locally sourced produce to those struggling to keep meals on the table.
