A.T. Johnson Class of ‘70 Gathers for 2nd Reunion
The last graduating class from A.T. Johnson High School started holding reunions last year and were determined to make sure that they didn’t wait another 55 years before gathering again. The class of 1970 held a reunion last weekend at the former Black high school constructed in the days of segregation.

Gardy’s Mill Pond meeting leads to heated reactions
On May 28, the Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) held a public comment meeting at the Callao Fire Department to review possible solutions for Gardy’s Mill Pond and its dam. The 75-acre pond is located on the Northumberland-Westmoreland county line, with the boat ramp area located on the Westmoreland side. It is the only public pond in Northumberland County.

MEDINA CHARGED WITH 19-YEAR-OLD WATKINS’ MURDER
Abraham Medina has been formally charged with the murder of Gabriella Watkins, a 19-year-old who went missing in Westmoreland in December 2024 and whose body was discovered in Essex in January 2025.

Worship Watch comes to Little Zion Baptist Church
Enough tragedies have happened in churches across the country that the public increasingly acknowledges that horrid things can happen in houses of worship. Instead of letting worries fester, First Sergeant Antwan Smith of the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office decided that keeping people aware and prepared was the best approach. Thus, the Worship Watch Program was born.

Celebration & fireworks coming in June
The Northern Neck has many links to the historic origins of the country. In honor of the nation’s 250 anniversary, Stratford Hall will be hosting a major event on the 6th and 7th of June–Virginia Resolved–celebrating a precursor to the Declaration of Independence.
