Montross Fall Festival Calls it Quits Amid Rain
The Montross Fall Festival Committee received an unpleasant reminder that almost anything can be planned for except the weather. The Montross Fall Festival closed down early as bitterly cold wind and rain rolled in shortly after the opening cere‑monies Despite the initial cloud cover, the morning started off warm and things looked optimistic. Vendors set up their tents across the Montross down‑town area before Mayor Joey King and David Parr gave their opening announcements.

The Montross Fall Festival is mere weeks away. While the theme—celebrating our nation’s 250th birthday— and the grand marshals—business leaders and others who helped grow the Town— have been locked in, there’s still quite a bit of work to be done.

Museum Makes Exhibit Opening a Major Event
Last Saturday brought plenty of excitement to Old Courthouse Square in Montross as people gathered not only to enjoy live music but also to explore a special exhibit that had come to town. Part of the VA 250 celebrations, “Give Me Liberty: Virginia & the Forging of a Nation” was created by the Virginia Museum of History and Culture.
Give Me Liberty Exhibition Coming to Westmoreland Museum
This weekend, a traveling exhibition exploring Virginia’s role in the founding of our nation and the American Revolution will be setting up at the Westmoreland County Museum as another part of the celebration of 250 years of American history.
Montross town manager announces retirement
Last Friday, the Town of Montross announced that Francine Taylor, who has served as the Montross town manager since December 2022, plans to retire on November 20.
