Colonial Beach calls for action on menhaden
Last Wednesday, Colonial Beach Town Council held a particularly lengthy meeting, and one of the final items of the evening involved the adoption of a resolution urging Virginia legislators in both houses to put more resources toward research on the status of menhaden as well as the effects of industrial fishing in the Chesapeake Bay. The council also asked that the Virginia Marine Resources Commission begin implementing measures such as a pause on industrial reduction fishing in the Chesapeake.
Colonial Beach Resident Receives Achievement Award
Sal Puglisi, a 95‑year‑old Colonial Beach resident and member of Coast Guard Auxiliary 3‑10 in Callao, received the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Achievement Medal for his tireless work performing Vessel Safety Checks, ensuring that private owners’ boats meet safety standards.

POTOMAC PERK OPENS ITS DOORS
Last Monday, a ribbon cutting was held as The Potomac Perk at Bob’s Bean Roastery celebrated its grand opening. Situated inside the Market on Main building at the intersection of Wilder and Washington Avenue, the coffee shop also has a roasting machine inside.
