Warsaw Cuts Ribbon on DCHD Housing Project
Town leaders and other partners recently celebrated the completion of the Warsaw Housing Rehabilitation Project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which comes after nearly three years of planning, coordination, and construction aimed at improving housing for local families.
WASHINGTON DISTRICT SECURITY UPGRADE CONTINUES
At last week’s Westmoreland County School Board meeting, some time was taken by Superintendent Cathy Rice to give a facility update, which primarily dealt with the security vestibule upgrade to Washington District Elementary. While not completed yet, the work had hit another major milestone: the inner doors.
Rt.301 Project in Dahlgren Underway
VDOT has begun a $4.6 million construction project in Dahlgren that will overhaul two busy Route 301 intersections— University Drive/Commerce Drive and Market Center—by installing a “double restricted crossing U‑turn,” or RCUT.

POTOMAC PERK OPENS ITS DOORS
Last Monday, a ribbon cutting was held as The Potomac Perk at Bob’s Bean Roastery celebrated its grand opening. Situated inside the Market on Main building at the intersection of Wilder and Washington Avenue, the coffee shop also has a roasting machine inside. A few days after the grand opening and ribbon cutting, manager Reilly Clifton and owner Bob Busick sat down to chat about how the whole idea came about.

Westmoreland Schools’ crisis plan explained
On August 17, the Westmoreland County School Board held a presentation on, and sub‑sequently approved, a new crisis management plan presented to them by Christopher Evans, the division’s director of technology, and Tom Kaski, the division’s technology coordinator. These plans are drawn up on a year‑by‑year basis and have to be approved by the School Board and certified by the Superintendent before the end of August.
