WESTMORELAND RECERTIFIED AS CRIME PREVENTION COMMUNITY
At the Westmoreland Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board celebrated the county being recertified as a Certified Crime Prevention Community, which came on the heels of the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office’s recent reaccreditation.
YMCA in King George hosts ribbon cutting to celebrate renaming
Last Wednesday, a number of Westmoreland County staff hopped over to King George along with a generous portion of the Trivett family to attend a ribbon cutting at the YMCA on Route 3. The ribbon cutting was held in celebration of the Y renaming itself the Trivett Family YMCA, a nod to a family with a long history of support for youth activities, usually through donations.

St. Margaret’s finds new life
It wasn’t too long ago that St. Margaret’s School—an institution that had been part of Tappahannock’s history for more than a century— was shut down against the wishes of both local residents and its governing board by the Church Schools in the Diocese of Virginia (CSDV). The school’s final attempt to remain open, a lawsuit filed earlier this year, was dismissed in April, clearing the way for the closure.
