Saylor Daiger, a Richmond County Elementary School student, claimed 1st Place Overall in the 2026 Virginia School Board Association Eastern Regional Art Contest.

Daiger competed against students from across Region 3, which stretches from Gloucester to Stafford. Ultimately, she was declared the top artist among her peers.

“Pretty impressive, because we’ve never won at that level,” RCPS Superintendent Dr. Trey Davis told the Board of Supervisors. He noted that Daiger’s achievement meant being the best in her class, then in her school, before advancing to compete against students from across the region.

Daiger’s artwork will be displayed by the VSBA in Charlottesville for a year.
