Stratford Hall President gives update on Virginia Resolved

As the year continues and tourism season looms large, places across the Northern Neck are working to tie their events to the nation’s 250th birthday. Unsurprisingly, Stratford Hall is one of them, particularly when it comes to their Virginia Resolved event, which is slated to take place on the 6th and 7th of June.
In an email to Westmoreland Director of Economic Development Dale Hendon and former County Administrator Jim Taylor, Stratford Hall President Karen Daly provided details about what is in the works for the event and what could be done on the County’s end to help bring it to fruition.
“Virginia Resolved continues to evolve into an incredible 250th commemoration!” Daly wrote. “We recently met with Pyrotecnico to discuss the fireworks show, and the United States Navy Concert Band is confirmed as our musical performance for Saturday evening’s program, bringing approximately 40 performers!”
According to Daly, the VA250 Mobile Museum will be present, and the keynote address on Saturday evening will be delivered by Carly Fiorina. Invitations have already been sent to Congressman Wittman, Chief Anne Richardson, and several other elected officials at the state and national level, including Governor Abigail Spanberger.
With invoices for the event starting to come in, Daly decided to reconnect with the County to try to discuss what process needed to be followed to request the disbursement of the $50,000 that the County committed to the celebration. At last week’s meeting, the Board unanimously voted to make the planned appropriation from the County’s general fund.
A full timetable of the events for Virginia Resolved is still pending. Westmoreland County residents and County staff will get free admission.
