Northumberland Indians boys baseball fell to Rappahnnock 0-4. According to Coach Northern, they had bases loaded twice, but didn’t score. He said Chase Fisher pitched well for Northumberland. Northern said, “You just can’t make errors against a team as good as Rappahannock.”

Northumberland Girls softball lost 0-3 to Rappahannock. Coach Baker stated, “Rappahannock’s pitcher dominated, but Bailey Lewis pitched very well for Northumberland.” He saw good things from the defense as well.

Northumberland Track and Field teams had success against their opponents. Boys placed first with 79, Mathews second with 77, Lancaster third with 32, and King and Queen fourth with 16.

Jay Bea won the shot with a throw of 37’1 and discus with 108’1 and seventh in both the 100 and 200. Bobby Clark was fourth in shot (31’1.5 feet), and fifth in the 400. Hawthorne Blackwell finished ninth in shot with 24’0.5, seventh in the 400, and eleventh in the 100. Kyle Dobyns placed second in high jump with 5’4, third in the 400 with a time of 1:01.84, and fourth in the 300 hurdles with 56.84. Cameron Seldon placed third in the high jump with 18’11, first in the 100 with a smoking 11.04 ( a personal record), and first in the 200 with a 23.34(PR), Grant Biddlecomb won the 400 with 56.54 (PR). Teagan Mullins placed second in the 110 high hurdles with 21.34, second in the 300 hurdles with 53.54 (PR). Quinton Jones placed third in the 300 hurdles with 56.6 (PR), and fifth in the 1600 with 6:07 (PR). Boys 4x100 team won with a time of 4:15.34. 

Northumberland Girls finished in a tie for second with Mathews. Lancaster girls placed first with 72, and King and Queen finished fourth. Cassidy Lane placed second in the discus with a 77’10 (PR), second in the shot out with 24’5, and third in the 200 dash with 36.34. Ashley Burgess won the shot put 26’5 and discus 79’1, both PRs. She also placed fourth in the 200 with 37.64. Camdin Sisk won the 800 with 2:53.34 (PR). Key Morris placed third in the 400 with 1:14 (PR) and fifth in the 800 with 3:24.24 (PR). Trinity Smith placed fifth in 400 with 1:22 (PR) and sixth in 800 with 3:58.34 (PR). Sophia Saprana placed fourth in the 800 with 3:03.84 (PR).
