The W&L Eagles football team was home in the first round of the class 1 region A playoffs versus the Colonial Beach Drifters on Friday, November 15. The two schools share the same county, so there’s always a family rivalry when they line up. Going to a game as an unbiased observer is quite entertaining; you get to observer the fans of both teams go from euphoria to shock to dismay. All these emotions happened within 30 seconds of the game on both sidelines when the Eagles scored a touchdown with 25 seconds left to take a (34-27) lead. The Drifters got the ball after the kickoff with 19 seconds left in the game and a lot of field to cover. Corvion Davis connected with Randall Annino on a 70-yard pass play for a touchdown with 10 seconds to play. The Drifters went for two to be up in the game, but a pass attempt was batted down by Jawun Tolson in the end zone to secure an Eagles (34-33) win. The game started with the visitors going up (0-7) in the first quarter. The Eagles Jawun Tolson tied the game (7-7) on a one yard run.
