A 32-year-old wanted Westmoreland man was found and arrested in Stafford at Motel 6 because another man in the room wouldn’t stop making prank telephone calls.
On Friday, April 25, shortly after midnight, Stafford Deputy D. Jett went to the Motel 6 on Warrenton Rd. to address suspicious calls from that address that came from the same phone number. On the first 911 call, the caller just hung up. On the second call, the caller said someone had a gun, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Police spoke with 39-year-old Brian Lee of Stafford “who appeared to be under the influence.” At that time, Lee claimed he didn’t make the calls. Jett told Lee 911 was only for emergencies and the deputies on the scene left.
One minute after the officers were notated as clearing the scene, Stafford dispatch received another call and spoke to someone in the room. The officers returned and saw there were three people in the room, and shortly after, three more people came out of the bathroom. At this point, deputy M. Holub noticed what he suspected to be drugs “in plain view.” This prompted a search.
While deputies were investigating the incident, they got the names of those in the room and ran them through the system. A man who came out of the bathroom identified himself as Kemonta Johnson of Hague. Johnson was wanted in Spotsylvania for failure to appear. And since he was wanted, he was officially detained and police searched him.
A search of the scene revealed drugs “throughout the room.” In the bathroom, it appeared someone attempted to flush some of the evidence, but according to SCSO, the plan went awry, someone urinated on the drugs, and police found them in the toilet.
According to SCSO, Lee admitted he urinated on the drugs to try to destroy evidence. He also confessed to calling 911 as a prank.
Lee was charged with drug possession, paraphernalia possession, destroying evidence and falsely summoning police.
Johnson was charged with drug possession and arrested for his outstanding warrant for failure to appear in Spotsylvania. In Spotsylvania, Johnson is also facing a drug possession charge.
Both men were denied bond and were being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail.
