At 6:37 p.m. last night, the Virginia State Police responded to a three vehicle crash with two confirmed fatalities and another victim transported with life threatening injuries at the 2000 block of Longfield Road.
The trooper's preliminary investigation reveals that a 2018 Hyundai Tucsan, driven by, Terry L. Parker, 45, of Heathsville, VA., was traveling northbound on Longfield Road when he crossed the center line striking head on a 2019 Hyundai Kona that was traveling southbound. Parker then went off road striking several trees. The Hyundai Kona then struck a 2014 Toyota Venza that was traveling southbound.
Parker was not wearing his seat belt. Unfortunately, Parker succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. Parker was the only occupant of the vehicle. The driver of the Hyundai Kona identified as, Edgar J. Griffith IV, 28, of Kinsale, was wearing his seat belt and was transported by helicopter for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Griffith's front seat passenger, Edgar J. Griffith III, 61, of Kinsale, was wearing his seat belt but succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. The adult female driver of the Toyota Venza was wearing her seat belt and did not sustain injuries.
Speed is being considered a factor into the cause of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation with the assistance of the Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Team.
