Westmoreland Fall Hazardous Waste Postponed Until 2021
Out of an abundance of caution regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, Westmoreland County has postponed the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection originally scheduled for September 26. The new date for the event is Saturday, April 24, 2021. HHW collections are a collaborative effort of Westmoreland County, Virginia Cooperative Extension, and the Norther Neck Soil and Water Conservation District. Kathleen Watson, Education and Outreach Specialist at the NNSWCD explained that postponing was a difficult but necessary decision. “We didn’t feel that it was logistically possible to maintain social distancing at the event and we needed to ensure the health and safety of everyone who would come out to the collection. We look forward to a spring collection when, we hope conditions will be safer for everyone,” she said.
