Eric Pollitt will begin his duties as Tappahannock Town Manager in October.

Eric Pollitt has been hired as the Town Manager for the Town of Tappahannock. Pollitt, a native of Richmond comes to Tappahannock after serving as Town Manager for Glasgow. In 2014, Pollitt graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a major in political science and minors in public management and economics. Graduating in 2017 from University of Kentucky’s Martin School of Public Policy and Administration, Pollitt earned a Master’s in Public Administration with a concentration in public financial management. In addition to his time in Glasgow, Pollitt has worked as a Management Analyst for Fluvanna County, as an International City/County Manager Association Management Fellow in Templeton, Massachusetts, and was the Chief Financial Officer for Shelbyville, Kentucky.

While serving as Glasgow’s Town Manager, Pollitt made a long-lasting impact in the near year and a half he has been there.

He developed an events facility which lead to the Rockbridge County Fair coming to Glasgow, the Town’s Charter being updated, and secured the CDBG Planning Grant for the Town’s business district. Other accomplishments Town Manager Pollitt noted were the creation of a new town website, implementing organizational and administrative structure through committees and staff, hosting the first annual Council retreat for goal setting, construction of a VDOT Multi-Purpose Trail, creating the Town’s first summer concert series, and implementing the Town’s first delinquent tax program. He also led an upgrade to the town’s park with new paint for the metal playground equipment, picnic shelters, and basketball courts. The Town Office received long overdue renovations, updating the interior and creating a safer environment for staff. Lastly, he improved the budget process for Glasgow with transparency and technology, created the town’s first 5-year capital improvement plan, and most importantly shaped the budget for long-term financial sustainability.

Besides his duties as Town Manager, Pollitt has also been active in the community. He served as a member of the Lexington-Rockbridge Jaycees, as an ex-officio member of Lexington Main Street, and is on the Rockbridge Area Outdoor Partnership.

Pollitt commented, “I am truly humbled to be selected as the next Town Manager for Tappahannock. It is my desire to serve the residents, staff and elected officials with excellence. A kindness can be felt throughout the community and I look forward to contributing to the culture of ‘Rivah Life.’ My girlfriend and I are thrilled about the journey ahead and we cannot wait to call Tappahannock home.”

Pollitt will begin his duties in Tappahannock in early October.
