Colonial Beach Drifters varsity basketball team became regular season champions!

The Colonial Beach Drifters Varsity Basketball team became regular season Northern Neck District Champions Friday night against Lancaster High School at Lancaster. The low-scoring game, 40-37, brought the Drifters home to ride the point with a police escort as well as a large number of cars.

Lights, sirens, and horns a blazing as the team took the traditional route, down the river and up the bay, as people at home flashed their porch lights to cheer the Drifters on.

This followed a Wednesday night game at the Drifter Dome against the Washington and Lee Eagles. The Drifters won 75-70 in a standing-room-only packed gymnasium.

The Drifters move on to regional play this week with games on Monday and Wednesday.
