The Northern Neck News group – which includes the Northern Neck News, the Westmoreland News and the Northumberland Echo – is pleased to report that our team won 10 awards in this year’s Virginia Press Association competition for advertising, news writing and reporting and page layout. Congratulations to Brittlynn Powell, Melody Hasselvander and Amber Wilson!
Brittlynn Powell, the Northern Neck News, Westmoreland News and Northumberland Echo’s editor, took second place in Headline Writing, third place in Front Page Design, second place in Combination Picture and Story, and third place in Page Design. The coverage sited included the annual Richmond County Fair and the Railroad Exhibit at the Reedville Fisherman’s Museum.
Melody Hasselvander, advertising design and composition, won first place in the Member Self-Promotion advertising category, second place in Professional Services (excluding medical/healthcare) advertising category, and third place in Fashion and Personal Care advertising category.
Powell, Hasselvander and Amber Wilson, advertising sales representative, won first place in the Slick Publication category for Winter Riverviews. Powell and Hasselvander also took first place in the Slick Publication category for Summer Riverviews.
The Northern Neck News group competed in a grouping of numerous other Virginia newspapers that have a similar circulation.
