Meals for Haven kids

Twice weekly Boys & Girls Club’s executive director Phillip Mumford meets Deanna Lavery, Child and Family Coordinator at The Haven Shelter, to distribute 130 meals and snacks for 13 youth housed at The Haven, which offers emergency shelter to individuals who have experienced violence living within the Northern Neck and Essex County.  A blue “Club on the Go” packet consisting of educational materials and activities is also included. “Although we primarily serve youth in Lancaster and Northumberland counties,” says Mumford, “we are more than happy to include these youth who we hope to be able to welcome to our summer programs when they resume in future.”  “The Haven is incredibly grateful for our community partnerships that assist our programming, especially during this critical and challenging time in our work,” shares Deanna. “The BGNN has been a welcomed, new partnership that we hope will grow and prosper in the future as we both look to creative ways to support the youth in our communities.”
