One could be forgiven for thinking that with Montross’s Fall Festival having now passed, not much will be going on there as the temperature drops and people bundle up for the biting cold to come. Those who know better, however, would not be surprised to find that the Fall Festival Committee will be meeting again this November. Town Manager Patricia Lewis gave the report on the Fall Festival to the Montross Town Council last week, and by all accounts, it was a doozy.

Designed as a big thank-you to the military veterans living in Westmoreland County, Ms. Lewis was definitely of the mind that this was going to be a tough act to follow up on next year.

“It’s going to be hard to beat what we did that weekend. We could not have asked for a better day; I heard wonderful things from the veterans and from the people watching the parade. One vet, he was 95 years old; as they went by the Judges’ stand and were saluted by Sergeant Brown, I saw tears, not just from the vets, but from a lot of people. It was a very heartwarming, very emotional day.”
