While last year’s weather stopped most normal participants from entering, this year’s Lighted Boat Parade on the Potomac sponsored by Colonial Yacht Club had more entrants for the event. The temperatures were cold, but the wind was low and waves were tiny, a perfect night for the wonderful event.

Half a dozen beautifully decorated boats glided over the Potomac River from Dockside and the Colonial Yacht Center up the River and down to Classic Shores and back.

With Christmas music playing from most decks the boats came close to the Municipal Pier in town, with people waving and shouting “Merry Christmas” to the large group gathered there.

Not only was the pier packed with spectators, the shoreline fills with cars and photographers waiting to see the brightly lit boats cruise the shore.

Cars lined Irving Avenue with many of them playing Christmas music as well.

Colonial Beach Yacht Club allowed those participating to use their ramp and park overnight as well. Dockside Restaurant and Tiki Bar donated gift certificates as prizes for the 22nd Annual Lighted Boat Parade.
