Volunteer Tree Planting in Warsaw: Join Friends of the Rappahannock as they plant 50,000 trees this spring! They’re partnering with the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge and National Wildlife Federation to plant 10,000 native trees at the Tayloe Unit outside of Warsaw. This project will enhance valuable wildlife habitat and protect clean water in the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay! They’re looking for volunteers to help them finish strong by planting trees, installing tree mats and placing bird nets on tree tubes. They have two volunteer shifts available on Saturday, April 17. Morning shift is 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Afternoon shift is 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. All tools and materials will be provided and sterilized. Please bring your own water, snacks, closed toe shoes and weather appropriate layers. COVID-19 social distancing and masking guidelines will be enforced. All are welcome; they have jobs for participants of all ages! Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact Anne Self with any questions at anne.self@riverfriends.org or by calling 804-443-3448.
