The Lancaster Virginia Historical Society (LVHS) is excited to announce “Zooming In On Lancaster County History: Thursdays at 3,” a biweekly virtual speaker series. LVHS Board member and series coordinator Lois Williams says, “Each event will be a 30-45 minute Zoom webinar featuring local authors, researchers, and historians. The presentations will include slides and visuals and the opportunity for interactive Q&A with the speaker. The first seven programs are planned through February and they have many more topics and speakers in mind. Some of the presentations will highlight new publications and research, while others will revisit popular topics from past museum exhibits and author talks.” The speaker series is free for LVHS members and $5 per program for the public. All viewers must register for each webinar separately at or 804-462-7280, and will need a valid email address. According to Williams, even after a program has aired live, attendees can register for on-demand access to a video recording. January 21, 3 p.m.: “Dr. Peirce’s Babies.” Margaret Forrester will talk about her research methods and findings that resulted in her 2018 book, Home Birth Records of Dr. Chichester Tapscott Peirce: 1919-1954, and Peirce’s grandson Page Henley will share stories about the life of this familiar country doctor.
